Wendy was no stranger to the gym or exercising. She’s tried just about everything in town so I was excited to see what we could do in 12 weeks.

Wendy’s lifts were astronomical in gains, not just that the further through Amazing 12 she got the less she felt her agonizing back pain.

Wendy Got a chin up on week 11 for the first time in years.

 

Wendy lost a total of 11.4 lbs and 8.6 inches.

  "In the winter of 2015 I broke my ankle and went from an active lifestyle to couch potato. I found that long after my injury healed,  I remained unmotivated and unsuccessful in developing a fitness routine. The Biggest Change Occurred in My Mind.

As we near the end of each Amazing 12 round I ask each participant to write a paragraph or so about their Amazing 12 experience. I really give them no direction and I really have no expectations on what I want to see them write. If I'm honest this is my favorite part of the Amazing 12 process. Its where I see what truly transformed in the time the spent with me. I've had the pleasure of knowing this next graduate for almost 4 years now. I watched as he and his wife welcomed their first child into this world. Now Ive been able to see just how dedicated and driven he truly is. 

"Writing something pithy about a process that has helped to transform not only how you view your fitness but your life in general is difficult. The decision to do Amazing 12 was the tipping point of a conversation that had begun months prior. I was sharing with my wife some of the things that I regretted not doing better in recent years. Of those things was my fitness. I have never been in great shape but I have always enjoyed the short bursts in my life when I was active. I would try the gym for a week or two but then either tire from a lack of progress or I would get injured in some big or small way and quit. Months or years later I would try again with similar results. I had near constant lower back pain from sitting all day and a lack of energy by the end of the work day to the point that I really didn't want to do anything when I got home from work. This conversation I was having with my wife coincided around the time we had our first child. Like most life-changing events, it had caused me to once again re-evaluate what was important in my life and once again my health entered the foreground. I thought I just "wanted to be healthy" but during the process of our conversation I realized that wasn't it. I wanted to live healthy. I didn't want it to be a goal anymore; I wanted it to be a journey. Problem was, I knew from past failures that I needed a push in the right direction. Amazing 12 sounded like the kind of push I needed and it was most definitely more work than I had bargained for. It was hard; really hard at times. 

Fast forward 12 weeks and I am stronger, lighter, smaller, and healthier than I think I have ever been in my life. Yet all of this wasn't the biggest change. The biggest change occurred in my mind. I don't think about health and fitness the same anymore. I love to live healthy now. I look for ways to improve my health and desire it when I wake up in the morning. When I look at the changes that occurred in just 12 weeks it did something else to my mind: it opened it up to possibilities. I now think to myself, "What else can I accomplish in 12 weeks?" I have set new goals for my physical well-being but also for my emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. They are all 12 week-based goals. When that's done? I'll set more for another 12 weeks. 

Was Amazing 12 transformational? The results of our entire class speak to that. But for me, Amazing 12 gave me drive, direction, and a diagram for pursuing life in general, not just physical fitness."

Mike battled a respiratory infection early on in the 12 weeks and missed a great deal of training. He didn't deter from his nutrition and he made up every missed session. He was often the only person who showed up for his training session at 5:45 and was often there 20 mins early to warm up. At times I felt bad that he didn't have that extra motivation from a team to keep him going in the last few weeks but he didn't let that stop him or discourage him. 

Most people don't enjoy Military Pressing, Mike LOVED it. Despite overcoming illness he had ridiculous strength gains. 

I'm super proud of Mike, even still 2.5 months later he is still going strong in the gym!
